Mondadori is one of the leading European publishing companies. It is the leading publisher of books and magazines in Italy and the third largest publisher of magazines in France. The Group also works in retail through a network of over 600 stores across Italy.
Mondadori is the leading Italian company in the trade books sector with a market share of 24.0%, and holds a share in the magazine sector of 31.2% (figures from the end of 2015).
Mondadori is the third largest publisher of school books in Italy, with a textbook adoption share of 12.5% in 2015.
The company is also present in France in the magazine sector through the subsidiary Mondadori France, with a circulation share of 10.7% and an advertising share of 10.9%, making it the third largest publisher of magazines in France in 2015.

In the books sector, the newly formed Mondadori Libro S.p.A. manages all of the Group’s activities in book shops.
In the trade sector, the published products that traditionally form the core business of Mondadori Libri are works of fiction, non-fiction and books for young adults, available in paper or digital formats. The Mondadori Group operates through a number of publishing trademarks: Mondadori, Giulio Einaudi Editore, Piemme, Sperling & Kupfer (with Frassinelli) in addition to the Rizzoli Libri trademarks (Rizzoli, BUR, Fabbri Editori and Rizzoli Lizard).
In the educational sector, the Group is also present Italy through its range of school, legal, professional and university textbooks produced by Mondadori Education and the Rizzoli Libri trademarks (such as Fabbri, Etas, La Nuova Italia, Sansoni and Tramontana), as well as in the art and illustrated books sector, management of museum bookstores and the organisation of exhibitions and cultural events with Mondadori Electa and Rizzoli Illustrati.
Following the acquisition of Rizzoli Libri, the company also has a presence in the United States with Rizzoli International Publications and the Rizzoli, Rizzoli NewYork and Universe trademarks.
In the magazine sector, over the years Mondadori has consolidated its position through the publication of paper and digital weekly and monthly magazines on sale both at newsstands and by subscription. With a portfolio of 27 titles, the Group publishes some of the best known and most widespread titles in Italy (such as TV Sorrisi e Canzoni, Donna Moderna, Grazia, Panorama, Chi, Interni and Sale&Pepe), with a consolidated leadership in the television, women’s magazines, current affairs, entertainment, home furnishings and cooking sectors.
Furthermore through the subsidiary company Press-di Distribuzione Stampa e Multimedia, the Group distributes its own magazines and newspapers produced by third parties throughout Italy.
To accelerate the development of the digital sector, in addition to creating websites and portals which have broadened the Group’s audience and enhanced the Mondadori brands, the Group has recently acquired Banzai Media; with 17.1 million unique users per month, this is Italy’s leading online publisher, particularly in the vertical news and entertainment sectors of women’s magazines, food, health and wellness, with leading brands such as PianetaDonna, Giallo Zafferano, Studenti.it and Mypersonaltrainer.
This division also features the Digital Marketing Service, aimed at the development of digital promotional and interactive advertising initiatives aimed at an increasingly profiled customer base, focusing on the “below the line” advertisement sector.
Thanks to the subsidiary Mondadori International Business, the Group has a global presence with 39 international editions managed through joint-venture partnerships, direct management or licensing agreements with international publishers. The most developed brand abroad is Grazia which currently numbers 24 successful editions worldwide; other successful titles include Interni, Flair, Icon and most recently, Il mio Papa.
The group is also present in France through the subsidiary company Mondadori France (since 2006), whose portfolio of 31 titles includes some of the most successful magazines in the women’s, men’s and television sectors such as Grazia, Closer, Pleine Vie, Science & Vie and Télé Star, as well as Auto Plus, the leading car supplement edited by EMAS in joint venture with the German publisher Axel Springer.
Thanks to the subsidiary company Mondadori Retail, the Group operates across Italy through its network of 600 stores, including 29 directly managed book shops (20 Bookstores and 9 Megastores) and other franchises including 316 book shops, 232 Mondadori Point stores and 50 shop-in-shops, as well as the online sales channels (www.mondadoristore.it) and bookclubs. Mondadori Retail serves over 20 million customers every year.
The ordinary shares of Arnoldo Mondadori Editore S.p.A. have been listed in Milan’s stock exchange since 1982 (ISIN: IT 0001469383; trading code: MN). The security is in the MTA segment of Borsa Italiana (FTSE Italia Small Cap index), media sector.
Marina Berlusconi has been our Chairperson since February 2003 and, since October 2005, has been Chairperson of Fininvest S.p.A., holding that owns 50.39% of Mondadori. Ernesto Mauri has been our Chief Executive Officer since March 2013.
