Born in Ferrara on 21 December 1945, Mario Resca begins his career as business journalist at Espansione (Mondadori-McGraw Hill) in 1968, one year before graduating in Economics and Business Administration from Milan’s Bocconi University.
After graduating, he moves to Chase Manhattan Bank, opening its first branch in Italy. He works in the offices of London and New York, and in 1972 is Head of the Credit Facilities Department in Rome. The subsequent year he is appointed Second Vice President. From 1976 he is partner at Egon Zehnder (world leader in executive recruitment) for 15 years, first taking on responsibility for the Italian branch and then that of Mergers & Acquisitions Worldwide.
In 1995, he becomes Chairman and CEO of McDonald’s Italia, with the task of re-launching and developing the brand in Italy.
Resca has been member of the Board of Directors of Arnoldo Mondadori Editore S.p.A. since April 2003.
During the course of his career, Mario Resca was also extraordinary commissioner of the Cirio-Del Monte Group; chairman of the US Chamber of Commerce in Italy; member of Aspen Italia; member of the Boards of Directors of Lancôme-L’Oréal, Versace S.p.A, Rizzoli Rcs, and UPA, Chairman of Kenwood Electronics S.p.A, Sambonet S.p.A., and Italia Zuccheri, Senior Advisor of OakTree Private Equity, General Manager for enhancement of cultural heritage, Chairman of the Convention Bureau (Ministry of Tourism).
Chairman of Confimprese, Mario Resca also holds the roles of Chairman of Nicotra Gebhardt S.p.A. and CBI, member of the Board of Directors of Sausalitos and Visionnaire, senior advisor of Ergon Capital S.A. (private equity fund) and Chairman of Mondadori Retail S.p.A.
In 2002, he received the honour of “Cavaliere del Lavoro”.
