  • Revenues: 320.8 million euro
  • New production: 2,458 titles
  • Italian market share (in terms of value): 24%

With a 24% market share in 2015, Mondadori is leader in the Italian book market. The establishment of subsidiary Mondadori Libri S.p.A. (November 2014) has enabled us to achieve a more functional structure in relation to the publishing activities of our traditional core business, also with a view to expansion.

The two different divisions have been maintained in the new company: Trade, which publishes fiction and non-fiction, and Educational, which groups together all internally developed book production (from school texts and training manuals in general to art books and illustrated books), as well as the organisation and management of exhibitions and archaeological sites.

Mondadori Libri now encompasses the publishing and distribution activities of the Books Division and the investments in book publishing companies in the trade, art and educational sectors, namely Edizioni Piemme, Giulio Einaudi editore, Mondadori Education, Mondadori Electa and Sperling & Kupfer Editori, as well as the stake in the distribution company Mach 2 Libri.

In April 2016, we completed our acquisition of RCS Libri, now Rizzoli Libri, consolidating our competitive position on the Italian book market of trade and school texts, in addition to the international illustrated books sector.

eBooks

The eBooks market accounted for 6.2% of total revenues for the Trade Division in 2015, with 2.2 million downloads and a catalogue of over 10,200 titles.
