In recent years the Mondadori Group has strengthened its leadership in consumer magazines by launching new titles and pursuing a policy of international expansion, which received further impetus in 2006 with the acquisition of Emap France. Now known as Mondadori France, it is France's third-largest magazine publisher with a portfolio of 31 titles.
This expansion strategy has been supported by the introduction of Italian magazine titles on foreign markets through licensing agreements with international publishers. The success of Grazia’s international editions has been followed by other magazines such as Icon, Flair, Interni and Il mio Papa. Mondadori’s stake in Attica Publications, Greece’s biggest magazine publisher, ensures further possible growth in eastern European markets.
To develop Mondadori’s foreign expansion in the magazine sector, also through new international alliances, in October 2012 was estabilished Mondadori International Business, headed by Carlo Mandelli.
On top of its traditional activities, Mondadori has in recent years developed websites and portals to leverage magazine brands and expand the audience of its titles through the internet.
