Mondadori Store wins the prize Retailer of the Year Italy 2015-2016 twice in a row in the bookshops category
The Mondadori Group, the Italian market leader in books and magazines, also operates in the retail area through its subsidiary Mondadori Retail SpA.
With a network of over 600 outlets with 4 store formats (Megastore, Bookstore, Point and Club) and 4 sales channels (direct sales outlets, franchises, the web and bookclubs), every year Mondadori Retail serves over 20 million customers. In 2015 the area generated revenues of €196 million.
With the appointment of Mario Resca as chairman and Mario Maiocchi as managing director, in 2013 a process of reorganization and the evolution of Mondadori Retail began with a view to strengthening the Group’s retail activities.
The strategy is based on the expansion of the network of retail outlets and an extension of the product categories offered, as well as cost optimization, a focus on the customer - through improved organisational efficiency and the use of all available online and offline tools, able to improve the shopping experience, and innovation.
The latter involves, among other things, the plan for a single strong brand identity, within which the variety of the different formats that make up the network can thrive.
From July 2014, the reference brand for all of the offline and online outlets became Mondadori Store, with the following iterations: Mondadori Megastore (for the Multicenters) Mondadori Bookstore (for bookshops), Mondadori Point (for Edicolè), Mondadoristore.it (for the website).
