Introduction

The Privacy Policy outlined here aims to describe how the web site www.mondadori.it, property of Arnoldo Mondadori Editore Spa (hereinafter Mondadori), is managed with regard to the handling of the personal details of the site's users/visitors.

Users/visitors that want to receive information by using contact links appearing in the web site will spontanously provide their e-mail address to Mondadori.

Users are requested to read carefully the Privacy Policy before submitting any personal information and/or compiling electronic forms on the site itself.

Type and purposes of details handled
1. Surfing data
The computer systems and software procedures involved in the operation of the web site www.mondadori.it acquire, as a matter of course, some personal details that are implicit in the use of certain internet communication protocols.

Such information, which is not collected or used to identify users, may, by their nature, be elaborated and associated with data from third parties making it possible for users to be identified.

This category of data includes IP addresses or names or domains of the computers used by users who connect to the site, URI (Uniform Resource Identifier) addresses of the resources requested, the time of the request, the method used to submit the request, the size of the file obtained in response to a requests, the numeric code indicating the state of the response given by the server (successful, error, etc.) and other parameters relating to the operating system and the users computer environment.

Such data is used exclusively for anonymous statistical purposes on the use of the site and to ensure the efficient operation of the site and are immediately cancelled after elaboration. Such data may be used to determine responsibility in the case of hypothetical computer crime that damage the site; but, apart from this, data on web contacts are not held for more than seven days.

2. Data supplied voluntarily by users
The optional, explicit and voluntary supply of email addresses indicated on this site involves the subsequent acquisition of the address of the sender, necessary in order to respond to requests, as well as other personal data included in the message.

Voluntary registration on the Mondadori web site, when requested for particular services, will be preceded by specific indications that will be progressively included and shown on special pages on the site.

Cookies
A "cookie" is a small quantity of data, often contained in a unique and anonymous identification code that is sent to users' browsers by a web server and which are subsequently memorised on the users hard disk. The cookie can be read and recognised only by the web site that sent it. Cookies may be found in a number of areas of www.mondadori.it and are used exclusively for technical purposes and/or to trace users’ use of the site. If a user prefers not to receive cookies, browsers may be set to warn of the presence of cookies, allowing the user to decide whether to accept the cookie or not. It is also possible to automatically reject all cookies by activating this option on the browser.

Notification ex art. 13 Legislative decree 196/2003
This is notification made according to the terms of art. 13 of Legislative decree 196/03 - the code for the protection of personal details - for all users with a view to making users aware of the manner in which their personal details may be used.

Privacy in Mondadori
Mondadori processes the personal data of third parties while at the same time taking all the necessary steps to guarantee that data remains confidential and secure. This is done in line with technological developments, particularly in the field of computer technology.

Mondadori, in applying the norms in force regarding the protection of personal data, has adopted the following policies:

  • The Data Controller is Arnoldo Mondadori Editore S.p.A, which has its registered office in Via Bianca di Savoia, 12, 20122 - Milan
  • The person in charge of the implementation of privacy legislation at a corporate online level is the Director of External Relations and Communication of the Mondadori Group.
  • Those who process personal data are referred to as "Persons in charge of the processing". They have been provided with specific instructions and benefit from an ongoing training program.

Mondadori only collects the personal information that is strictly necessary to offer services requested by users or for other purposes for which such information has been supplied. Particular importance is attached to sensitive data, which are processed only after having ascertained on a case by case basis that it would be impossible to process them anonymously.

Mondadori processes personal information after taking all necessary physical and IT security measures, in accordance with the arrangements outlined in the privacy code and in the technical specifications thereto attached.

At the end of the processing, the company will store the data it is required to store and, if such obligation does not exist or if such term has elapsed, it will erase the data or transform it into anonymous form.

Rights of data subjects

Data subjects may apply to the Operations Department mentioned above for any information on personal data, in particular:

  • to obtain confirmation as to whether or not personal data concerning him/her exist and to receive such data in intelligible form
  • to be informed of the source of the personal data, of the purposes and methods of its processing and of the logic applied to the processing if the latter is carried out electronically
  • to obtain a list of the entities or types of entity to which the personal data may be communicated and that may get access to such data in their capacity as data processor(s) or person(s) in charge of the processing
  • to ask that their data is updated or corrected and, if the data has been processed unlawfully, to demand that they be erased or rendered anonymous
  • to object, in whole or in part, to the processing of their personal on legitimate grounds or for commercial purposes.
